"Ed was patient and passionate, and his love for the music shone through. An unforgettable experience for staff and students."

Ed is a passionate and dedicated teacher, focussed on finding creative ways to inspire children through music education.  He is a partner with the Be Creative workshop group, a collective of London based musicians who lead song writing workshops in schools.

As well as having the position of visiting double bass teacher and sectional coach at King’s College School, Wimbledon and Wimbledon High School, Ed has also taught as the sectional coach on the Marryat Players Music Course.

In 2016 Ed formed the Blues and Roots Ensemble,  a registered charity bringing together a collective of musicians whose aim is to give children a greater understanding of the power and purpose of  creative music, and the influence it can have.  The ensemble uses the music of Charles Mngus as a catalyst for exploring jazz and improvised music, with Mingus as an example of how one man was able to achieve a greater purpose and social cause through his composing and performing.

"An excellent workshop, which gave the children an opportunity to learn about Charles Mingus, and to perform to other children in the school."

Ed had a great rapport with the children and it was great to see his passion for Mingus.

Be Creative music workshops are run by a team of young professional musicians whose aim is to inspire school pupils (primary & secondary) through participative music making.  The aim of the workshop is to give children a better understanding of popular music and allow them to use the knowledge and skills aquired through the workshop to create and record a song of their own.
